Description
GE Logiq E9 Ultrasound Machine
The GE Logiq E9, is a premium shared service ultrasound machine capable of top of the line women’s health and 4D imaging along with top notch imaging for radiology, cardiac and vascular applications. GE’s breakthrough technology is the Logiq E9 with XDclear, which uses advanced transducers with a single crystal, acoustic amplification and a cooling technology to improve image quality especially at deeper penetration when image quality typically fades.
The GE healthcare Logiq E9 is perfect for a multi application clinic. Whereas the GE Vivid line specializes in cardiovascular applications and the GE Voluson line specializes in women’s health and 4D, the GE Logiq line can do both of these as well as radiology and general imaging. Medical professionals that will use the system exclusively for one or two applications should instead consider the GE Voluson E8 for OB/GYN and 4D or the GE Vivid E9 for a cardiac focus. The Logiq E9 has been in production since 2009 and is extremely stable and reliable even in older versions back to BT11 (also known as R3 or revision 3).

Revisions
GE Logiq E9 BT09 to BT15 revisions:
GE first launched the Logiq E9 in 2009. That first version was designated as BT09. “BT” is an abbreviation of “Break Through” and the number designates the year in which this version was launched. So the GE Logiq E9 BT09 was launched in 2009 and was in production till the next version in 2010, the Logiq E9 premium BT10. The BT versions are also referred to as a Rev. or revision. The BT09 is Rev 1, BT10 is Rev 2, and so on. Each version fixed bugs in the Logiq E9, improved hardware or software and gave access to new transducers.
The Logiq E9 BT10 is upgradable to BT11. The Logiq E9 BT11 added strain-based elastography, and Elasto QA as an option. BT13 added XDClear as an option along with access to the new C1-6D and C2-9D convex transducers that were made specifically with the new XDClear technology. The Logiq E9 BT13 is also based on a new BEP (back end processor) to improve performance. BT14 again upgraded the BEP and added optional Shear Wave Elastography.

Advanced Logiq E9 probes: 4D and TEE
The Logiq E9 BT13 supports 23 different transducers including the [ 2 – 8 MHz ] 6Tc TEE probe for cardiac applications (though without 4D) and a full range of six volume transducers including the rare [ 3 – 10 MHz ] RNA5-9-D 4d microconvex transducer, and the equally rare [ 6 – 18 MHz ] RSP6-16-D 4d linear transducer. Very few ultrasound machines besides the Logiq E9 support all these probes in one unit. This is a fantastic cost savings for a multi-application clinic or radiology department that can purchase one unit that does the same work as 2 or 3 others. The [ 4 – 15 MHz ] L8-18i-D intraoperative linear is perfect for scanning in the small area within a surgical incision.
Popular GE Logiq E9 transducers:
The [ 1 – 6 MHz ] C1-5-D convex is the most popular convex transducer for the Logiq E9 in general applications because of its versatility and affordable price. The [ 3 – 11 MHz ] 11L-D linear transducer is likewise versatile and able to handle peripheral vascular, abdominal, small parts and MSK imaging. The [ 3 – 10 MHz ] IC5-9-D is the most popular intracavitary transducer for the Logiq E9 balancing affordability with good OB/GYN and Urology imaging.
Competitors
GE Ultrasound machines similar to the GE Logiq E9:
The GE Logiq E9 is the successor to the older Logiq 9. The “E” in the Logiq E9 name stands for the “expert” series, used for the premium level products from GE. The Logiq S8 is a high-end system just below the Logiq E9 in price and features. Other “E level” products similar to the Logiq E9 are the Voluson E8 and Vivid E9. The Logiq E9 is targeted toward Radiology but can also perform well in women’s health and cardiology. If you specialize in women’s health and will never need to access the cardiac applications of the Logiq E9 then the Voluson E8 might be a better choice. Likewise a cardiologist that needs only cardiovascular applications might use a Logiq E9 but would be better suited to the Vivid E9.

GE Logiq E9 technology definitions:
CrossXBeam: Combines several images from different angles into a single, real-time image that
allows for improved border definition and high contrast resolution.
SRI-HD: High-definition speckle reduction imaging on the Logiq E9 that increases contrast resolution by reducing speckle noise while maintaining true tissue appearance.
Coded Harmonic Imaging: This improves near-field resolution for clearer small parts imaging and for far field penetration on the Logiq E9.
Coded Contrast Imaging: This enhances the view of the Fallopian tubes vs. other tissue.
TUI: Tomographic ultrasound imaging on the Logiq E9 allows you to view volume data in multiple slices.
Q-Analysis: This plots the velocity information of discrete points for graphical analysis on the Logiq E9.
Auto IMT: Reduces the time it takes to evaluate the carotid artery’s intima-media thickness by automatically detecting the edges of the intima-media.
